The referee blows his final whistle, Real Madrid 2-0 Borussia Dortmund (3-4 on aggregate)

90+4 One chance remaining for Real Madrid.

90+3 Sergio Ramos heads a corner just wide.

90 Dortmund make their final substitution. Felipe Santana replaces the injured Sven Bender.

90 The passionate Real Madrid fans are cheering on their team in decisive moments.

88 Benzema pulls the ball back to Ramos from the byline and the central defender lashes it into the roof of the net. Real just need one more goal to cause a huge upset.

87 Dortmund make their second substitution. Lewandowski is replaced with Sebastian Kehl.

85 A Sergio Ramos header is handled by Weidenfeller as Real lay siege to Dortmund's area.

84 Real Madrid are roared on by a passionate crowd.

81 Real midfielder Sami Khedira also receives a yellow card for a challenge on Jakub Blaszczykowski.

79 Sergio Ramos is handed a yellow card.

78 Real players protest against a Howard Webb decision not to award them a handball on the edge of the area after the ball strikes Hummels' arm.

75 With 15 minutes remaining, Dortmund have all but advanced to the final.

73 A poor long-range shot from substitute Sami Khedira goes high over.

72 Kaka side-foots a cross after cutting ahead of his marker but it narrowly misses the target.

71 Di Maria just fails to get on the end of a cross at the far post. Real relatively improve.

70 Ronaldo wastes a chance for Real! His right-foot shot from inside the area goes high over. Too many inaccurate shots tonight.

69 The introduction of Kaka and Benzema has so far failed to bear fruit.

67 A cross-cum-shot from Di Maria goes narrowly wide. A rare half-chance for Real in the second half.

65 A timely Ramos interception prevents Dortmund from creating another goal-scoring opportunity. The visitors are very dangerous on the counter.

62 Dortmund waste their third second-half chance to end the game as a contest!! Midfielder Ilkay Guendogan is found by a pull-back from Reus but his shot from four yards out is blocked by Real keeper Diego Lopez. We can expect a Dortmund goal on the break soon.

60 Dortmund's Lewandowski, the first-leg hero, spurned the chance to kill off Real's hopes early in the second half. Real have the better possession now but they hardly trouble the visitors.

57 Real coach Jose Mourinho makes a double substitution. Karim Benzema replaces Gonzalo Higuian and Brazilian playmaker Kaka comes on instead of left-back Fabio Coentrao.

56 An Essien cross picks out Ronaldo but, under pressure from the defence, he fails to head goalwards.

54 Higuain fails to control a deft pass from Ronaldo, drawing jeers from the home crowd.

52 Real Madrid's desperate crosses are repeatedly cleared by the tight Dortmund defence.

50 It's Lewandowski again! He breaks clear following a neat pass from Reus but his angled shot rattles the bar. Dortmund's fast-paced counter attacks expose the gaps in Real's advanced backline.

49 Dortmund striker Lewandowski wastes the chance to effectively end the tie as a contest!! He is picked out unmarked inside the area but his mis-hit shot goes high over with the goal at his mercy.

47 Real Madrid are left with an uphill climb. They need to score three goals to cause an upset and reach the final.

46 Hummels heads away a Real Madrid cross and denies an effort from Varane in the ensuing corner kick.

The second half is underway

The referee blows his half-time whistle, Real Madrid 0-0 Borussia Dortmund

45+1 Ronaldo shoots a long-range free kick high over.

44 Higuain also receives a yellow card for protesting Howard Webb's decisions.
43 Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Guendogan receives a yellow card for a challenge on Ozil.

42 The offside flag once again denies Higuain.

40 Real are now finding it difficult to create chances through crosses, given the aerial prowess of Dortmund's steadfast defenders.

39 Another Ronaldo cross goes begging.

37 Dortmund's full-backs, Lukasz Piszczek and Marcel Schmelzer are putting in an impressive display, repeatedly thwarting Real's attempts to penetrate down the flanks.

34 Ronaldo loses possession in midfield after mis-controlling a tame pass.

32 Dortmund are determined not to concede any goal in the first half to make matters difficult for the hosts in the second period.

24 At the other end, Sergio Ramos superbly clears a cross from Dortmund.

23 A cross by Real full-back Fabio Coentrao is headed away by defender Mats Hummels.

21 Real are repeatedly trying to expose any gaps on Dortmund's left side.

20 Ronaldo cuts inside his marker on the left and sends a low shot that goes wide from the edge of the area.

18 Unlike the first leg, Real Madrid carve out openings but they still lack the cutting edge.

15 In the exciting first quarter of an hour, Real Madrid waste three clear-cut chances while Dortmund spurn one genuine chance.

15 Real squander the third goal-scoring chance!! Ozil latches onto a superb pass from Higuain to go one-on-one with Weidenfeller but his low shot hits the side netting.

14 Cristiano Ronaldo wastes Real's second goal-scoring opportunity! He fails to beat Weidenfeller from close range in some breathtaking moments.

13 Lewandowski almost puts Dortmund ahead! His close-range half-volley is saved by the keeper.

1 Marco Reus is denied by the offside flag and Coentrao's cross is blocked by Dortmund's defence at the other end in the first minute.

Real Madrid 2-0 Borussia Dortmund April 30, 2013

The more and more I think about this, the more and more intriguing it becomes: Is three goals too much for Real Madrid to come back from against Dortmund?

Most first inclinations say yes, but the reality is that defending a big lead heading into the second leg is not an easy thing to do. AC Milan showed it against Barcelona, Bayern Munich showed it against Arsenal, Real Madrid showed it against Galatasaray—it's hard to play two or three goals in front.

Thus, if Madrid net the opening goal, this one is definitely back on.

Los Blancos are a brilliant attacking side and possess more than enough firepower to net three goals here. Yes, Dortmund are a technically sound defensive side and have shown to have Madrid's measure this year, but this is a situation they're not used to—and they're also under a lot of pressure.

An early goal, or maybe two goals up at half-time, and this one will definitely get interesting. Three goals is a lot for Madrid, but they have shown they can score goals when needed, and they aren't completely out this semifinal just yet.

San Antonio Spurs vs LA Lakers April 28, 2013

If the Los Angeles Lakers had entered the postseason completely healthy, this could have been a fantastic playoff series.

Alas, the injury bug finally took a bite out of Kobe Bryant's ageless legs, depriving fans of a thrilling clash between the Black Mamba and Tim Duncan, two early nominees for the All-Century team.

With the graying Lakers lineup hobbled, the San Antonio Spurs have ruthlessly taken over the series. They won each of the first three games by double digits and handed L.A. a 31-point shellacking in Game 3, the worst home playoff loss in the franchise's storied history.

Andrew Goudelock will start at shooting guard for L.A., and he brings an MVP pedigree. Unfortunately, that was MVP of the D-League, and these are the NBA playoffs. Though the Lakers will come out fighting, they don't really have a puncher's chance in this one.

Reading vs QPR April 28, 2013

This game can only be billed as the battle to avoid the Premier League’s wooden spoon. Defeat will mean relegation but even if either side win, they will be relegated if Aston Villa beat Sunderland on Monday night. Both sides trail Villa by 10 points with four games remaining and only the greatest of escapes will avoid this fixture featuring in the Championship next season.

Nigel Adkins has managed to pick up just one point since taking over at Reading and the Royals have failed to win in their last nine games. QPR have not fared much better, having only earned one point in their last five games.

Both teams will be among the Championship favourites next season, although Harry Redknapp has insisted an immediate return to the top flight will not be easy for his high-earning flops.

The one consolation each side will take from this season is the £60 million that they will receive from parachute payments, which will be paid in four instalments over the following four years.

Back in February, when Sky selected it for live broadcast, this fixture looked like it would be a classic six-pointer. For the players it will be a chance to impress potential suitors watching from their sofas ahead of the summer transfer window but for fans, only pride is at stake.

Chelsea vs Swansea April 28, 2013

Since winning the Capital One Cup, Swansea City have stalled. Michael Laudrup's side have only won once in their last six league games, and have fallen to ninth. They haven't won away from the Liberty Stadium this year, and now face the task of trying to stop Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

However, Swansea have been something of a bogey team for Chelsea of late, knocking them out of the Capital One Cup at the semi-final stage in a two-legged affair most recently, after two consecutive league draws between the sides.

Chelsea come into this game on the back of a Europa League semi-final victory away at Basel, and are still scrapping to finish inside the top four. Currently a point behind Arsenal and occupying the final Champions League spot, they have a game in hand on the Gunners still to play.

For this game, Rafa Benítez will be unable to select Oriol Romeu, who is out for the rest of the season. Marko Marin is doubtful due to his lack of match fitness, though otherwise Chelsea have a fully fit side available. Swansea's position is even better -- they don't have a single injury concern for this game.

Arsenal vs Manchester United April 28, 2013

London: Arsene Wenger could be without Mikel Arteta (ankle) after he picked up an injury against Fulham last time out.

The Spaniard`s injury means Wilshere is likely to sit alongside Aaron Ramsey in midfield, with Tomas Rosicky playing in the free role behind the striker and Santi Cazorla shifting to a wide left position.

Olivier Giroud faces a three-match ban for his red card in that game meaning either Theo Walcott, Gervinho or Lukas Podolski will lead the line for the Gunners.

Sir Alex Ferguson is likely to rotate his squad after sealing the title against Aston Villa on Monday night.

After Jonny Evans picked up a knock in that win, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic - who missed the title-clinching tie - are both set to return to the side with Phil Jones perhaps deployed in midfield.

Michael Carrick is also likely to be rested after playing through injury against Villa. Expect the likes of Danny Welbeck, Chicharito, Tom Cleverley and Nani to feature from the start.

•Arsenal have kept just four clean sheets in their last 16 Premier League games at the Emirates Stadium.

•Only the Gunners (18) have scored more goals in the final 15 minutes of matches than Manchester United (15).

•Arsenal have taken only four points from seven games against the other sides in the top five this season, every other member has at least 10.

•Despite having the best away defence (14 goals conceded), 12 teams have a better home defensive record than the 21 goals shipped by the Gunners at the Emirates.

•Manchester United are the first team to be crowned champions with four games remaining since Arsenal in 2003-04.

•Robin van Persie has scored 17 goals in his last 17 Premier League appearances at the Emirates. The Dutch international is 17/2 with bet365 to score two or more goals on Sunday.

•The Dutchman has scored in each of his last three appearances where Arsenal have played against Man Utd, twice for the Gunners and last time out for the Red Devils.

Southampton vs West Brom April 27, 2013

It is hard to tell which of these teams are sitting in the top half of the table and which, up until recently, were caught up in the battle for Premier League survival. Southampton are fourth in the form table, behind only Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, with Jay Rodriguez and Ricky Lambert currently playing with an almost telepathic understanding in attack. West Brom, meanwhile, have won only one of their last six matches with their cause not helped by the ongoing absence of Chris Brunt and the suspended Youssuf Mulumbu. Jamie Burton

Manchester City vs West Ham April 27, 2013

For all the jubilation that ensued following Manchester City’s inaugural Premier League triumph in 2012, there was bound to come a time when the blue side of Manchester was brought crashing back down to earth.

For the City fans who still clung to the slim belief that they would successfully defend their title, Sunday’s defeat at White Hart Lane served as a reality check. By Monday, Roberto Mancini’s men had been dethroned by their neighbours.

West Ham travel to Eastlands on Saturday lunchtime to face a Manchester City side whose pride remains bruised following a disappointing week. The Hammers won a hard-fought point when these sides last met in November, thwarting every one of Manchester City’s 18 shots on goal. The defensive manner of that West Ham performance may go some way to explaining why City have struggled to replicate last season’s form.

But Mancini must now put everything behind him as he concentrates on a run-in that could have a direct impact on his future. With an FA Cup final looming and 15 points left to scrap for, City must use this period to prove they have the credentials to challenge for a second Premier League title next season.

Miami Heat vs Milwaukee Bucks April 25, 2013

The Miami Heat are taking their talents to Milwaukee to face the Bucks in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series.

For some reason, Brandon Jennings still thinks the Bucks can stop the Heat in six games according to CBS Sports, which would effectively be a sweep of the next four games for the Bucks.

Well Brandon, I think LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and their supporting cast have other plans.
Miami Heat vs Milwaukee Bucks April 25, 2013

While LeBron faltered in Game 2 with just 19 points on 6-of-14 shooting, I'm sure he isn't interested in letting this series go past four games.

The Heat want the sweep not only so they can rest, but also so that they can continue to assert their dominance in the Eastern Conference.

If the Bucks have any chance of winning this one, they will have to get lots of production from Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings, who combined for just 15 points on 5-of-22 shooting in Game 2.

If Larry Sanders can step up his defensive pressure a bit and Mike Dunleavy can be an efficient force off the bench like he was in Game 2, the Bucks stand a chance of stealing Game 3.

Unfortunately, that is asking a lot from the only team to make the playoffs with a losing record.

Basel vs Chelsea April 25, 2013

Chelsea have Ashley Cole and Gary Cahill available. Cole has not featured since limping off during the April 1 FA Cup quarter-final replay win over Manchester United, while Cahill underwent minor knee surgery on March 30 after suffering the injury against West Ham prior to the international break. Brazil forward Oscar also travelled despite coming off during Sunday's 2-2 draw at Liverpool with a groin problem. Long-term injury victim Oriol Romeu (knee) is the only definite absentee.
Basel striker Alex Frei has retired since the victory over Tottenham to become sporting director at Swiss club Lucerne. Former Liverpool right-back Philipp Degen is a doubt with a muscular problem, with nominal centre-half Arlind Ajeti ready to step in.

Rafa Benitez’s side travel to Switzerland to take on an FC Basel side that has already disposed of Tottenham in the Europa League knockout stages.

Preview

Chelsea will attempt to succeed where Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur both failed when they tackle Swiss side FC Basel in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday.

Winners of last season’s Champions League, Chelsea have had to make a priority of Europe’s second-tier cup competition this term as opportunities for winning silverware have fizzled out around them.

They are just two matches from the final in Amsterdam on May 15, but in Basel they face a team who sensationally knocked United out of last season’s Champions League and put paid to Spurs in the last round of the Europa League.

The current Swiss Super League leaders have also gone six home games without defeat in this season’s competition.

Complicating matters further is the fact that Chelsea’s main priority is the battle to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Having become the first defending champions not to progress beyond the group phase of the following campaign’s competition, failure to qualify for next season’s tournament would complete a startling fall from grace.

The quest for a Champions League place was compromised on Sunday by a 2-2 draw at Liverpool that left the London club in the fourth and final qualifying berth.

Borussia Dortmund vs Real Madrid April 24, 2013

Mourinho, 50, named an attacking side as he aims to reach the final with his third different club.
Angel Di Maria is the only doubt as his wife had a baby on Tuesday.

"Madrid are one of those clubs where finishing second counts for nothing. So we have to reach the final and then win that," Mourinho said.

Chelsea: Premier League 2005, 2006. FA Cup 2007. League Cup 2005, 2007
Inter Milan: Champions League 2010. Serie A 2009, 2010. Coppa Italia 2010. Supercoppa Italiana 2008.
Real Madrid: La Liga 2012, Copa del Rey 2011, Supercopa de Espana 2012.
"We will play with Diego Lopez, Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Raphael Varane, Fabio Coentrao, Sami Khedira, Xabi Alonso, Mesut Ozil, Gonzalo Higuain, Cristiano Ronaldo and hopefully Angel Di Maria," he added.

Real Madrid beat Real Betis 3-1 on Saturday but midfielder Luka Modric and defender Marcelo sustained injuries. French striker Karim Benzema, who scored one goal and set up another, was also substituted late on with a leg injury.
Real met Dortmund in the group stages, with Ozil scoring a last-minute equaliser to rescue a point for Mourinho's side from a 2-2 draw in Madrid in November, while Jurgen Klopp's German side won 2-1 in Dortmund a month earlier.
But Mourinho put those results down to individual errors and believes his side deserve to win the Champions League.
He said: "All four goals we conceded against Dortmund in the group stage were mistakes by us. We hope we will not concede that many goals in the next games.

"I hope that my team, which I value tremendously as individual players as well as a team, will be able to convince on Wednesday and in the return leg.

"The team has great players who give everything they have and also deserve to win this competition. With a few exceptions, none of them have won this competition so far and I wish it for my team that they can win the Champions League, as they deserve to do so."

Boston Celtics vs New York Knicks April 23, 2013

The Boston Celtics visit the New York Knicks in Game 2 of an Eastern Conference first-round series on Monday night.

touches and better shots in the postseason (this after he had a quiet Game 1, offensively). How does Garnett get himself easier looks? "Just play basketball, man," he said. "Our sets are called and our plays are designed for, obviously, movement, opportunity. Within those opportunities, I've just got to be aggressive with those, without coming out of formality or what we've been doing since this point. When I get baskets it's because I've taken advantage of options within the offense and I haven't over-stepped or anything outside of that. So I'm going to stick with that, but obviously being more aggressive with the opportunities that I do get."

The Celtics were plagued by 21 turnovers in Saturday's Game 1 loss. What's more, many of those turnovers were what Paul Pierce dubbed "boneheaded" plays. Celtics coach Doc Rivers thinks it's as simple as making better decisions with the ball -- and lowering the degree of difficulty on some passes. "I thought most are turnovers were forced, guys were trying to do too much with the pass," said Rivers. "The good news is they were trying to pass, the bad news is they were trying to pass. Some of the passes, really, should have just been down the sideline and to the post, instead of the guy with the ball was trying to make the pass. Again, they are correctable, but give the Knicks credit, some of those turnovers were forced by Kidd and some by their hands."

The Boston Celtics enter Game 2 in Madison Square Garden with plenty of reason to believe they can tie the series at one game apiece. Boston held the Knicks to 85 points in the first game, but their lack of offensive punch was on display. The Celtics made only 27 of their 65 field goals but lost by just eight points -- a margin that can easily be overcome if they tighten up their offensive decision-making and take advantage of the Knicks' defense.

New York's half-court defense focused on Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, but Boston can take advantage of the Knicks' overcommitment by slowing down the remaining "big two." Here are a few areas that Boston can exploit the Knicks and open up their offense.

Milwaukee Bucks vs Miami Heat April 23, 2013

With the first two days of the NBA playoffs in the bag, fans are starting to make series predictions. Some teams are struggling without key players, while some are clicking on all cylinders.

One team that seems to be pretty much unstoppable has to be the Miami Heat.

The Heat are facing the Milwaukee Bucks and seem to have the advantage in every aspect of the series. I bumped into my boy Lance Fresh out in Miami, and we broke down the “swag" matchup going on between the Heat and the Bucks.

We talked “Best Jerseys,” “Best Dressed,” “Best Player Celebrations” and more in a “Best-of-Seven” matchup.

Which team has the most swag? Which category did you disagree with? Comment below.

No. 1 Miami Heat (66-16) vs. No. 8 Milwaukee Bucks (38-44)

Game 1 in Miami: Sunday, April 21, 7, TNT
Game 2 in Miami: Tuesday, April 23, 7:30, NBATV
Game 3 in Milwaukee: Thursday, April 25, 7, TNT
Game 4 in Milwaukee: Sunday, April 28, 3:30, ABC
Game 5 in Miami: Tuesday, April 30
Game 6 in Milwaukee: Thursday, May 2
Game 7 in Miami: Saturday, May 4
Season series: Heat won 3-1.

Points per game (per 100 possessions): Heat 102.9, Bucks 98.9 (Heat 110.3, Bucks 100.9).

Points allowed per game (per 100 possessions): Heat 95.0, Bucks 100.4 (Heat 100.5, Bucks 102.3).

Matchups worth watching: Bucks center Larry Sanders vs. Heat center Chris Bosh, Bucks point guard Brandon Jennings vs. Heat point guard Mario Chalmers.

Scoring leaders: Heat forward LeBron James (26.8 PPG), Bucks guard Monta Ellis (19.2 PPG).

Why Miami will win: The Heat are the best team in the NBA and clearly the best team in this series. James and Dwyane Wade are much better than their Bucks counterparts and shouldn't have issues dominating. And Milwaukee has struggled in April.

Bayern Munich vs Barcelona April 23, 2013

Bayern Munich face the litmus test in their bid to become the first German team to win the treble of European, league and cup titles when they host Spanish giants Barcelona in Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final, first-leg.

Having swept aside all rivals to win this season’s Bundesliga title, Bayern are bidding to reach their third Champions League final in four years, but Spanish champions-elect Barcelona block their path to Wembley.

Bayern warmed-up for the showdown at Munich’s Allianz Arena with a 6-1 win at Hanover 96 on Saturday, the same scoreline by which they routed Wolfsburg in last Wednesday’s German Cup semi-final.

Coach Jupp Heynckes dropped a hint for Tuesday by incorporating both strikers Mario Gomez and Claudio Pizarro into a 4-4-2 formation, rather than Bayern’s usual 4-2-3-1 line-up.

With first-choice forward Mario Mandzukic suspended, Gomez has staked a strong case to face Barcelona with a hat-trick in six minutes against Wolfsburg, then two goals in Hanover.

Likewise Pizarro set up both Gomez’s goals at Hanover while scoring two of his own, and with an eye on Barcelona the 34-year-old boldly declared: “We’re better, we have more quality in our squad”.

Arsenal have proved Bayern are far from unbeatable in Munich with a 2-0 win as the Gunners lost the last 16 tie on away goals after the Germans’ 3-1 victory in London, but the hosts have belief in abundance.

“We are confident and we are assuming we will go through,” said Bayern’s director of sport Matthias Sammer, as the Bavarians claimed three more Bundesliga records at Hanover.

Bastian Schweinsteiger against Xavi is one of the most intriguing battles of the tie. Both the highly-skilled midfielders are key to their respective sides.

Schweinsteiger has been an indispensable presence for the Bavarians. Starting his career as an innocuous winger, the Bayern youth product was converted to a robust box-to-box midfielder by Louis van Gaal, and now is considered to be one of the best in the business. With his tireless running and tackling ability combined with his exemplary vision, he has proved to be a match winner on numerous occasions.

Meanwhile Barcelona have the most successful passing rate in the competition, and Spanish veteran Xavi has been the catalyst behind Barca's success. Pulling the strings from a deep-lying role, Xavi's precise passing and ability to find his teammates could prove to be a matter of concern for the Bavarians. Along with his extraordinary vision, Xavi poses a great threat from set-pieces too.

On Tuesday, the Champions League returns with a semifinal pairing of Bayern Munich and Barcelona, this season's top two teams in Germany and Spain, respectively. Without thinking too hard, one could easily argue that these are the top two teams in Europe.
Barcelona features in the semifinals of Europe's elite continental competition for a record sixth consecutive year. The achievement adequately describes Barcelona's reign over European football during the Lionel Messi era.

Milwaukee Bucks vs Miami Heat April 21, 2013

Miami - Everyone has this first-round series figured as a laughable enterprise, barely a bump on the Miami Heat's road to a second straight NBA championship.

Four and out for the Milwaukee Bucks at the hands of the powerful Heat.

Everyone except Bucks point guard Brandon Jennings, who bravely stuck up for his team and said it would win in six games.

The Bucks are a 500-to-1 shot to win the league title, by far the longest odds faced by any of the 16 teams in the playoffs.

Milwaukee is the only playoff team with a losing record, a six-below .500 club playing the 66-victory Miami squad, the defending champion featuring LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

But for the sake of argument, what would it take for the Bucks to shock the world?

Here are five ways the Bucks could make it interesting and provide a few stunning developments in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference series that opens Sunday night in Miami:

The Heat ranks 30th and last in the league in rebounding, so the Bucks have a chance to get an edge there.

And Milwaukee has been a strong offensive-rebounding team all season, with Ersan Ilyasova and Larry Sanders getting tips at the rim and keeping plays alive. Milwaukee ranks second in the league in offensive rebounding, grabbing 13.02 per game.

The Bucks will have to contend with the colorfully tattooed one, Chris "Birdman" Andersen, who was signed by Miami to address its rebounding deficiencies and has played a key role off the bench.

"We struggle more against the big power teams," Boylan said. "You look at the Heat and they have three of the top 15 players in the league, but it's not a low-post, physical interior.

"LeBron can play that role but for the most part he's all around the floor in different positions."

Bucks rookie John Henson has rebounded well in the last few weeks, including a 25-rebound game in Orlando, and will get a chance to contribute. He grabbed 18 rebounds in the first meeting with Miami in November.

"They're a little smaller down low but they do have good rebounders in Birdman, (Udonis) Haslem, good-sized bodies down there," Sanders said. "We're pretty long, too.

"We have to stay active on the boards, stay in that paint and get clean rebounds, get out on the break. And let our guards take care of the rest."

Tottenham vs Manchester City April 21, 2013

Tottenham have fallen two points behind rivals Arsenal in the Premier League and dropped out of the top four, although they have a game in hand on their rivals, so victory will be of the utmost importance. With Chelsea appearing to pick up form too, and Everton ending the season strongly, Spurs' margin for error is rapidly slipping away. They cannot afford to wait for their returning absentees, so this game will be huge.

Tottenham Hotspur are still not ready to welcome back Gareth Bale or Aaron Lennon, but Jermain Defoe has a chance of being able to play a part.

Manchester City will probably welcome back David Silva to the side after he sat out their clash with Wigan Athletic, but Sergio Aguero picked up a problem during the game and may not be fit to play.

Liverpool vs Chelsea April 21, 2013

Liverpool have only won once in their last four games, and are left floating in seventh, six points adrift of their rivals Everton. It leaves Brendan Rodgers' side with not much to play for, with their focus already turning to next season.

This game will mark Chelsea manager Rafa Benítez's first game back at Anfield since leaving the team he won the Champions League with, so he'll enjoy being gladly received at what is probably the only stadium in England he's welcomed.

The hosts will be without the injured Jon Flanagan, Fabio Borini, Martin Kelly, Raheem Sterling and Joe Allen, while Oriol Romeu is Chelsea's only definite absentee. However, Gary Cahill, Ashley Cole and Marko Marin are all doubtful.

Arsenal vs Everton April 16, 2013

At one point on Saturday, about 4:30 p.m., it looked as though the clash between Everton and Arsenal was going to be a real crunch tie. Everton were cruising to victory over a disinterested QPR side, while down in London, Arsenal were 1-0 down against Norwich.

But the Gunners' late fight back came with an unnerving sense of inevitability; they have scored more goals in the last 15 minutes of games than any side in England. With that late turnaround, the Toffees go to The Emirates knowing that only a win will do if they are to continue their push for Europe and the Champions League.
Arsenal vs Everton

Typically, Arsenal defenders do not like it “up and at ‘em.” With this in mind, Victor Anichebe should be desperate to get at this Arsenal back four.

This season, the Nigerian forward has been almost unrecognisable. Long gone is the sulky, laboured striker that infuriated Evertonians. At last, it looks as though something has finally clicked in him. In recent weeks, his performances against Manchester City, Tottenham and QPR have been absolutely fantastic.

The was a time when the ball would be played into Anichebe, he would miscontrol it and his head would go down. Now, whether played into his chest or into feet, it sticks to him. This season he has learnt how to use his powerful frame to his advantage; Anichebe has been devastating when he backs into defenders and he gets the ball played into feet.

Miami Heat vs Cleveland Cavaliers April 15, 2013

The last time the Miami Heat met the Cleveland Cavaliers in Cleveland, the game was delayed about 45 minutes thanks to a leak in the scoreboard and a crazed LeBron fan ran onto the court.

Oh, and the Heat were still on their epic winning streak. Now the Heat are without Mario Chalmers, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Shane Battier Chris Bosh and Udonis Haslem.

The one thing the Cavaliers absolutely can't afford to do is leave the Heat shooters open on the perimeter. And what do they do? Leave the Heat shooters open.

I guess that's why the Cavaliers are awful.

Cavaliers 5, Heat 3—9:16 remaining in the 1st quarter

Chelsea vs Manchester City April 14, 2013

Sunday's second FA Cup semi-final between title holders Chelsea and Manchester City was always going to overshadow the first Wigan Athletic vs Millwall match - and that will still be the case, despite the violence at Wembley on Saturday.

Eleven Millwall fans were arrested and four police officers suffered injuries after Millwall fans fought each other in scenes now rarely seen at English grounds - and even more rarely at Wembley - as their team was beaten 2-0 by Wigan, who reached the FA Cup final for the first time in their 81-year history.

Shocking pictures of the violence were televised around the world as a minority of Millwall fans among the 30,000-plus at their end of the grounds turned their back on a well-fought match. The Premier League Wigan deserved their win, albeit against a well-organised, but ultimately outclassed Championship (second-tier) side.

Following statements made by the Football Association, the Metropolitan Police and Millwall FC on Saturday night, investigations have started to find the troublemakers and hone in on what sparked the fighting and marred one of the showpiece events of the English season.

An eyewitness sitting among the Millwall fans told The Daily Mail on Sunday that trouble began after a child was knocked to the ground by a drunken fan.

The eyewitness, a Millwall season ticket-holder sitting close to where the fighting started, told the newspaper: "This drunken guy came back to his seat and knocked a little boy over. The bloke refused to apologise to the child or his father and the exchange soon became very heated.

"Before you knew it two groups of mates had formed and punches were being thrown. There were children around and some of them got scared and upset and needed to be taken outside.

"After a while the fighting died down, but then it started again and was stop-start all the way through the second half.

"People were calling on the police to get involved, but it took them the best part of 30 minutes to intervene and by that time it was too late. Between 10-15 police eventually acted but they were chased out. The stewards were nowhere to be seen. Totally useless."

The violence could be seen clearly from the nearby press seats at Wembley with the reporters watching in disbelief as the fighting took hold with stewards and police nowhere to be seen.

Violent History

Millwall fans have a long history of violence and their old ground The Den was closed by the authorities in 1920, 1934 and 1950 because of crowd trouble. In 1985 Millwall fans rioted at Luton during an FA Cup quarter-final, still one of the worst single outbreaks in English football's long association with hooliganism.

Millwall has worked hard to change its image of a downtrodden working class outlaw club, but Saturday's violence is likely to undo a lot of that effort.

The club said in a statement that it would ban indefinitely any fans found guilty of being involved in Saturday's mayhem, and with the police and FA working in tandem, what happened at Wembley is unlikely to be repeated elsewhere, simply because most supporters of the same club don't tend to fight each other.

Sunday's semi-final at least gives Wembley - and English football - an immediate opportunity to shift the focus to where it matters most: on the pitch with either title holders Chelsea or Premier League champions Manchester City set to return to the venue to face Wigan in the final on 11 May.

Stoke City vs Manchester United April 14, 2013

Of course, given that they still boast a 12 point lead at the top of the table, Manchester United should comfortably cruise to the title. But a slight shadow of doubt has been cast over Old Trafford after they were beaten by City on Monday night, and a win away at Stoke would be perfect to settle any lingering nerves.

Stoke have plummeted to 15th on the back of a six game winless run in which they've only picked up a solitary point. Three points above the drop zone, a failure to find some form quickly could have disastrous consequences for Tony Pulis' side, not least with the team just inside the bottom three, Wigan, having a couple of games in hand on the Potters by the end of the weekend.

Pulis has few excuses for his team's lack of form, as he only has a couple of doubts for this game. Winger Matthew Etherington has been struggling with a back injury, while midfielder Marc Wilson was withdrawn against Aston Villa with a hamstring problem.

As for United, Ashley Young is doubt after sustaining an ankle injury in the derby, while defenders Chris Smalling, Jonny Evans and Nemanja Vidic could also miss out after they were omitted with injury problems. Paul Scholes could be sidelined with a continuation of his knee issue, while Darren Fletcher is definitely out again.

Southampton vs West Ham April 13, 2013

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino could be without a trio of players for the Barclays Premier League clash with West Ham on Saturday.

A virus has sidelined Luke Shaw, Jason Puncheon and Jay Rodriguez and all are now doubts for the visit of the Hammers.

Other than the three players fighting illness, the Saints boss has a clean bill of health as his side look for the win that would move them on to 40 points for the season.

Provisional squad: Boruc, K Davis, Clyne, Richardson, Fox, Shaw, Yoshida, Fonte, Forren, Hooiveld, Ward-Prowse, Cork, Chaplow, Ramirez, Schneiderlin, S Davis, Lallana, do Prado, Puncheon, Mayuka, Lambert, Rodriguez.

West Ham will have on-loan striker Andy Carroll available for tomorrow's Barclays Premier League game at Southampton after he was ineligible for last weekend's goalless draw against parent club Liverpool.

Hammers midfielder Joe Cole (hamstring) and Mark Noble (shoulder) are still sidelined.

Defenders Winston Reid (hip) and George McCartney (knee) also remain out.

Provisional squad: Jaaskelainen, Demel, O'Brien, Tomkins, Pogatetz, Collins, Vaz Te, Collison, Jarvis, Diame, Nolan, Taylor, O'Neil, C Cole, Carroll, Chamakh, Henderson, Potts, Maiga.

Everton vs QPR April 13, 2013

Everton midfielders Marouane Fellaini and Steven Pienaar both return from suspension to face QPR at Goodison Park tomorrow.

Toffees manager David Moyes reported a few unnamed players had niggles but nothing too serious.

Full-back Tony Hibbert made his first competitive outing after four months out with a calf problem for the under-21s this week.

Provisional squad: Howard, Baines, Coleman, Distin, Jagielka, Heitinga, Fellaini, Pienaar, Mirallas, Gibson, Barkley, Jelavic, Anichebe, Osman, Mucha, Naismith, Duffy, Stones, Oviedo, Hitzlsperger.

QPR are missing striker Bobby Zamora for tomorrow's Barclays Premier League clash with Everton due to suspension.

The Rangers striker will begin his three-game ban as a result of being sent off against Wigan last weekend.

Shaun Wright-Phillips is out after undergoing ankle surgery, but manager Harry Redknapp has otherwise declared a clean bill of health at Loftus Road.

Provisional squad: Cesar, Green, Onuoha, Hill, Samba, Mbia, Fabio, Traore, Granero, Diakite, Hoilett, Park, Derry, Taarabt, Jenas, Townsend, Mackie, Remy, Bothroyd.

Aston Villa vs Fulham April 13, 2013

Aston Villa striker Darren Bent is nearing a return to full fitness ahead of the visit of Fulham on Saturday.

Bent made a brief appearance from the bench last weekend in the 3-1 win over Stoke at the Britannia Stadium, but is still short of match sharpness.

Villans manager Paul Lambert is also keeping an eye on the fitness of defender Ciaran Clark, He is back on the training ground following a shoulder injury while on international duty for the Republic of Ireland, and providing he suffers no reaction could feature in the travelling squad. Defender Chris Herd and winger Marc Albrighton (both foot) plus defender Richard Dunne (groin) remain on the casualty list.

Meanwhile, Villa's contract negotiations with Christian Benteke are on hold until the club is safe from relegation.

Provisional squad: Guzan, Given, Lowton, Vlaar, Clark, Lichaj, Stevens, Baker, Bennett, Sylla, El Ahmadi, Ireland, Westwood, Dawkins, N'Zogbia, Bannan, Holman, Benteke, Agbonlahor, Bent, Bowery, Weimann.

Fulham midfielder Eyong Enoh will undergo a late fitness test ahead of tomorrow's Barclays Premier League game at Aston Villa after injuring his ankle against Newcastle last weekend.

Reading vs Liverpool April 13, 2013

Forward Raheem Sterling will be absent again for Liverpool's trip to Reading as the club continue to manage the teenager's thigh injury.

Reds winger Stewart Downing, who played in last weekend's goalless draw with West Ham despite illness, is now fully recovered.

Forward Fabio Borini and midfielder Joe Allen (both shoulder) are sidelined, as is defender Martin Kelly (knee).

Meanwhile , Liverpool are hopeful of signing Swansea defender Ashley Williams despite Arsenal having a £9million bid on the table.

Provisional squad: Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Enrique, Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson, Sturridge, Coutinho, Suarez, Downing, Jones, Skrtel, Wisdom, Coates, Shelvey, Suso, Assaidi, Morgan.

Arsenal vs Norwich City April 13, 2013

The Gunners currently lie two points behind both third placed Chelsea and fourth placed Tottenham in the Premier League standings, but, crucially, have a game in hand on the latter. Since losing to their north London rivals early last month, Arsenal have won three successive matches to put them into position to make the Champions League for a 16th successive season.

Last week’s victory at West Brom came at a price, though, with Per Mertesacker being sent off and now serves a one-match suspension. That will mean Thomas Vermaelen returning to the starting lineup for the first time since being dropped following a poor showing against Tottenham.

There is better news for Arsenal with the return to training of Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott. Wenger said that both have a 90 percent chance of being involved on Saturday. The scorer of both goals against West Brom, Tomas Rosicky, is a major doubt with a hamstring problem.

Arsenal suffered a 1-0 defeat when they met Norwich at Carrow Road last October and Wenger is eager for his side to show how far they have progressed.

"We know that they are a good side and we know that they are a dangerous side,” he explained. “We believe that today we are stronger than we were at that moment of the season and that's what we want to show on Saturday.”

That win earlier in the season began a rich vein of form for Norwich as they went 10 matches unbeaten in the league, winning six. Since that spell, though, Chris Hughton’s side have won just once in 15 matches and have slipped to within four points of the relegation zone.

Rubin Kazan vs Chelsea April 11, 2013

Chelsea can take a step closer to becoming only the fourth side to win all three of UEFA’s major club competitions by cementing a place in the Europa League semi-finals when they travel to Rubin Kazan on Thursday.

Only Juventus, Ajax and Bayern Munich can count Champions League, Cup Winners’ Cup and UEFA Cup triumphs among their list of honours, but Chelsea are well positioned to add their name to that elite group as they head to Russia with a 3-1 advantage from the first leg at Stamford Bridge.
Rubin Kazan vs Chelsea
Thursday's fixture will see them return to the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, the setting for their UEFA Champions League final defeat to Manchester United in 2008.

Rubin will be hoping to inflict more continental heartache on the Blues in midweek, with it important for them to burst out of the blocks and strike early.

Two goals would be enough to see them through, with an away goal already in the bag, and their defensive record bodes well in their quest to claim a clean sheet.

Rubin have secured seven shut-outs in this season's Europa League - a joint-competition-high alongside Newcastle.
The 23-year-old is too ill to travel, giving Nathan Ake, 18, an opportunity to make his second Blues start. Gary Cahill, who had knee surgery at the weekend, joins Cole on the sidelines while Demba Ba is cup-tied. Midfielder Oriol Romeu is not expected to play again this season after suffering a knee injury in December. Chelsea take a two-goal advantage to Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium after a 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge that featured two goals from Fernando Torres.

San Antonio Spurs vs Denver Nuggets April 10, 2013

Miami Heat vs Washington Wizards April 10, 2013

The Miami Heat are just one win away from clinching home-court advantage throughout the entire NBA playoffs, including the NBA Finals.

While that win doesn't have to come against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night, it certainly wouldn't hurt.

All that's on the line for the Wizards is bragging rights, and while that might not sound like a lot, splitting a season series with the Heat would be quite an accomplishment for the 29-49 Wizards.

According to USA Today, LeBron James is still feeling some hamstring soreness, which means he may take the night off in the Nation's capitol.
Miami Heat vs Washington Wizards

Even without LeBron, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade, it's clear that the Heat can compete and win against any team in the league, and that will be the case on Wednesday night.

Watching John Wall face off against the Heat is worth the price of admission alone.

Not only is he averaging 26.6 points, 6.4 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game, he's also shooting the ball at 49 percent from the field.

It should be an entertaining matchup in Washington D.C., and one that you won't want to miss with the possibility of Wall and LeBron facing off.

Barcelona vs PSG April 10, 2013

Barcelona vs PSG The World Player of the Year is recovering from a hamstring strain picked up in Paris last week, when he scored in the 2-2 first-leg draw, though Barca proved they could survive without him by thrashing Real Mallorca 5-0 in La Liga on Saturday.

Favourites Barca are chasing a fourth Champions League crown in eight seasons, and leading marksman Messi usually provides the cutting edge on the big stage by setting up and scoring goals.

With La Liga all but in the bag, as Barca lead second-placed Real Madrid by 13 points with eight games left, coach Tito Vilanova may be inclined to risk his prize asset against PSG.
Barcelona vs PSG

Vilanova also has to decide who will partner Gerard Pique in the centre of defence as Javier Mascherano is out with a knee injury and Carles Puyol is a doubt as he recovers from knee surgery.

Inexperienced former youth-teamer Marc Bartra performed well alongside Pique on Saturday but versatile full-back Adriano Correia is close to fitness again and midfielder Alex Song could even be drafted in at the back.

"We'll see what options we have against PSG," Barca's assistant coach Jordi Roura said.

Manchester United vs Manchester City April 8, 2013

Manchester United vs Manchester City: This is gonna be a great night's Manchester derby guest. United will host City at home. City in the highly anticipated big fight after big chance.

Manchester United and Manchester City will play out the latest installment of their rivalry when they clash in the English Premier League on Monday.

Defending champions City have all but surrendered the title this year to United, who lead the Citizens by a whopping 15 points coming into this week.
Manchester United vs Manchester City

And with just seven games remaining after this one, you'd have to think that the Red Devils are capable of holding on for the title either way.

Date: Monday, April 8, 2013

Start time: 3 p.m. ET (8 p.m. local time)

Venue: Old Trafford, Manchester, England

However, just because the title might not be on the line in this one doesn't mean that this growing rivalry game won't be any less significant or carry any less feeling.

Roberto Mancini's men will be desperate to avenge the loss that they suffered at home to United earlier in the year, as the battle for Manchester heats up.

Newcastle United vs Fulham April 7, 2013

While all the attention has focused on their noisy new Italian neighbour just down the road at Sunderland, the fact Newcastle are only two points better off than Paolo Di Canio’s team has not escaped Alan Pardew. With Sunderland visiting St James’ Park next Sunday, the Newcastle manager has dubbed this fixture a “must win” game. In an attempt to minimise post-Europa League fatigue, Newcastle stayed in Lisbon on Thursday night following their 3-1 defeat at Benfica rather than flying back to Tyneside in the early hours of Friday morning. Chelsea vs Sunderland April 7, 2013

With the hackneyed Di Canio fascism controversy (hopefully) addressed and out of the way, attention now turns to on-field happenings, where Sunderland will be searching for their first win in eight on Sunday afternoon. Having lost their last three away games consecutively while Chelsea have won their last four at home, things don't look good.

However, with Chelsea having fallen against Southampton in their last league match, their fallibility was once again revealed, giving Arsenal half a chance of overtaking them in the race for fourth place. The Gunners are currently occupying the final Champions League spot after their win against West Brom yesterday, with Rafa Benitez's side having a one point deficit to overcome if they are to reclaim fourth.
Chelsea vs Sunderland
Sunderland's problems come at the other end of the table, with them slipping to within a point of the relegation zone. It is perfectly feasible that at the end of this weekend, they will find themselves in the bottom three. Good fortune has well and truly deserted the Black Cats, who are without a couple of key players. Top scorer Steven Fletcher and captain Lee Cattermole are out until the end of the season, while defensive duo Carlos Cuéllar and Wes Brown remain doubtful.

They have scored just 22 goals in 15 matches at White Hart Lane – nine fewer than they managed at the same stage of last season.

Tottenham have lost 35 Premier League matches in the month of April, more than any other team.

Everton

Everton have their highest points tally (51) since 2007-08, when they had 56 points and finished the season in fifth place.

They have scored a league-high 57% of their goals in the first half of matches this season.

The Toffees are winless in their three most recent away matches, losing the last two. They last lost three consecutive away matches between August and October 2005.

Liverpool vs West Ham April 7, 2013

Liverpool vs West Ham Barclays Premier League as Liverpool host West Ham at Anfield in the first of five matches. The Reds still have European ambitions when they host Sam Allardyce's team at 1.30pm who have won just once away from home since November. Kicking off 35 minutes later is a pivotal clash in the race to reach next season's Champions League as Tottenham host Everton at White Hart Lane.

Only Reading have lost more Premier League away games this season than West Ham, and Sam Allardyce’s side – minus the ineligible Andy Carroll against his parent club – will require a major transformation to upset a Liverpool team enjoying their best run of the campaign with four wins in five matches. Brendan Rodgers’s men have scored 20 goals in their past six home league games, have averaged three per game in their past six in total and have scored more at this stage of a campaign (59) than in any of the past 17 seasons.
