USA 4-3 Germany June 2, 2013

Altidore's first-half goal -- his first for the USA in 19 months -- set the tone for a 4-3 win over Germany in the Centennial Celebration match in front of 47,359 at RFK Stadium on Sunday. Clint Dempsey scored two goals in the second half to put away the result, as the Americans beat Germany for the first time since the 1999 FIFA Confederations Cup.

Altidore broke his drought in the 13th minute, hitting a wondrous first-time volley off a cross from Graham Zusi. He had not scored in the run of play for the USA since June 2011, and it was his first international goal since a penalty kick against Slovenia in November 2011.

Four minutes later, the Americans were gifted a goal, as German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen failed to handle Benedikt Howedes' backpass and allowed the ball to creep into the low left corner of his goal.

Miroslav Klose entered the match a goal behind Gerd Muller's German record of 68 international goals, and he nearly brought Germany within 2-1 in the 24th minute. He split the U.S. center backs and finished past Tim Howard, but he was judged to be offside.

Per Mertesacker had an earlier chance to open the scoring, but the Arsenal defender fluffed his chance from close range. Germany got on the board in the 52nd minute, though, with Heiko Westermann heading home Max Kruse's corner kick. The Hamburg defender gained separation from Omar Gonzalez and connected for a clean header to slice the deficit in half.

Clint Dempsey restored the two-goal edge in the 60th minute, blasting home an effort off a cross from Altidore. The forward latched onto a long ball from Jermaine Jones, taking it down off his chest. Even though his touch took him away from goal, he remained patient and spotted both Michael Bradley and Dempsey in the box. The Tottenham attacker made no mistake with his first-time hit to make it 3-1.

Dempsey added his second in spectacular fashion minutes later, as he put a perfectly placed left-footed hit from long range past ter Stegen to bring the capacity crowd to a fever pitch. Even though Kruse's vicious right-footed strike and Draxler's opportunistic tap-in brought Germany within 4-3, the USA saw out the victory, ensuring that U.S. manager Jurgen Klinsmann defeated his former national side and assistant coach, Germany manager Joachim Low.

Of note in the U.S. lineup was that Seattle Sounders midfielder Brad Evans was handed the start at right back, and he more than held his own in providing service down the right flank while marking up Lukas Podolski. Fabian Johnson moved into an advanced winger role and played the first half before coming off in favor of Brad Davis.

Miami Heat vs Indiana Pacers June 1, 2013

The Indiana Pacers are now in a hole that some people expected them to be in given how they’ve been playing of late. They haven’t been able to beat the Miami Heat twice in a row all series long and that’s now something they need to do if they want to not only keep their season alive but make the NBA Finals.

Lance Stephenson was miserable for the Pacers in Game 5 which is something that will need to change in Game 6. The Pacers missed something they couldn’t have for the first time all series long as Danny Granger was sorely missed in the scoring game from the shooting guard position. Still, the Pacers have won two times this series and nearly a third so it’s not unbelievable to think that they can pull off a win at home and extend this series to a full seven and send it back to Miami.

But the pressure is on like never before for the Pacers and they’ll need to show up in more than just Game 6 if they want to keep this dream season alive.

So what time do the Heat and Pacers tip off? We’ve got all of the information you will need to know to make sure you don’t miss out on any of the action.

Start time: 8:30 p.m. ET
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Venue: Bankers Fieldhouse
Series Record: Heat lead series, 3-2

Bayern Munich vs VfB Stuttgart June 1, 2013

Bayern Munich can win the first treble in German football history on Saturday. The only thing standing in their way is the 2013 DFB Pokal Final against VfB Stuttgart. The Bavarians will be the clear favorites for the match and should make easy work of their opponents and add another record to their spectacular season.

Path To The Final

Stuttgart opened their Pokal campaign away to sixth division side SV Falkensee-Finkenkrug. After a two goal halftime lead, Stuttgart turned the screws in the second half and walked away 5-0 winners. The second round saw 2.Bundesliga side St. Pauli visit the Mercedes-Benz Arena only to be turned away after three first half goals from the hosts. The used two quick goals in the first half to edge Köln 2-1 in the third round. Their 2-0 quarterfinal victory over Bochum came easy enough, but it was their semifinal win against Freiburg that stands out. Freiburg were flying high in the league at the time and were the favorites to win the match. Stuttgart put together a solid defensive effort in a 2-1 victory to advance to the final.

Bayern opened the tournament with a 4-0 victory against Jahn Regensburg that didn't get out of hand until late in the second half. The second round also saw a 4-0 victory, this time over Kaiserslautern. Again, it was close until the second half when Bayern finally put them away. The third round match away to Augsburg was a tense affair that saw Ribery sent off for slapping Ja-Cheol Koo. Bayern managed to grab a late goal that saw them advance with a 2-0 scoreline. The final everyone wanted to see happened in the quarterfinals when Bayern edged Borussia Dortmund 1-0 on a strike from Arjen Robben just before halftime. They then put a 6-1 beatdown on Wolfsburg in the semifinals to make it to Saturday's final.
